Course Description
This 1.5 hour course dives through how to help clients construct their values from an acceptance and commitment therapy perspective (ACT). Clinicians will receive handouts to give to clients for the values construction and values audit process. Clinicians will gain understanding of how to further educate clients on their values.

Audience: Psychologists, Counselors, Social Worker, Other Licensed Mental Health Professionals

Skill Level: Beginner

Agenda: 

  • Introduction to understanding values from an acceptance and commitment therapy lens (18 minutes)
  • Further education on values and how to define values (37 minutes)
  • Education on values construction process and resources for using with clients (24 minutes)
  • Further implementation for clinicians on how to use values work with clients (32 minutes)

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain values from an acceptance and commitment therapy perspective
  2. Recognize the difference between values and goals
  3. Distinguish between the values construction process vs. the values clarification process
  4. Summarize the roles that guilt and anger both play in values
