Course Description

This is the standard EMDRIA Approved EMDR Basic Training. Tuition includes two 3-day training sessions and 10 consultation hours. Students who enroll in this course will be able to practice EMDR with clients after the first training.

Additionallyyou will receive access to three FREE OnDemand EMDR Live Client Demonstration courses to complement your training once you have completed Part 2. Deepen your learning and understanding of EMDR therapy as you watch Stacy walk through all 8 phases with a real client.

Additional Information
  • This training is intended for licensed or pre-licensed counselors and therapists who work directly with clients. Graduate students in a licensure track mental health-related degree program are also eligible if practicing under a licensed supervisor within the practicum or internship phase of their program. 
  • No previous EMDR experience is necessary.
  • Participants who need to cancel their reservations are entitled to a full refund, less a 3% processing fee, provided they cancel and request the refund at least seven days before the first training.
  • Participants must be available for both training weekends as they cannot be rescheduled. 
  • Participants who begin the EMDR training must complete the entire training within 12 months from their initial start date.
  • 10 hours of consultation are required in order to complete the EMDR training. These hours are included in the registration fee. Half of the hours are completed between Parts 1&2, the final half are completed after Part 2.

Course Description:

This two-part workshop will define trauma and the various ways that it shows up in people’s lives, demonstrate how to manage differential diagnoses, and identify options for effective intervention. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to practice skills in diagnosing and leave with concrete interventions for their clients.

  • Day One will focus on understanding how trauma impacts individuals and communities, as well as the body-mind connection.
  • Day Two will focus on interventions and practical tools for use with clients.

  • Recognize how toxic stress and trauma impact the mindbody.
  • Distinguish between trauma presentations and other diagnoses.
  • Recognize common presentations of dissociation
  • Summarize the three phases of trauma informed care within the 8 phases of EMDR
  • Explain top-down and bottom-up approaches to trauma work in Phase 2 and beyond
  • Identify trauma informed treatment modalities for phase 2 preparation and stabilization
  • Practice using tools and experientials including assessment of trauma symptoms including dissociation
