Re-experiencing distressing events is the bedrock of psychotherapy. Whether a memory is a recollection from the night before or a fragment from fifty years ago, the incident can be brought into the present and serve as the opening act for long-awaited change. Partner exercises will show how to turn past trials into real-time troubles before an interactive discussion of five
interventions that can turn ordeals into emotionless facts.
EMDR therapists will appreciate how therapists can inject words into the mindfulness bubble that serve as highly nuanced cognitive interweaves when trauma processing is labored. A demonstration will show how to link the child-in-memory with the Witness state—the ultimate healing partner. Neuroscience findings will be reviewed that suggest emotional elements of early events can be erased (not just suppressed). In this Socratic seminar, participants and presenter co-create an engaging learning
experience.
